Singer, Community Song Leader, and Arts Educator

Picture
Denise is a talented  singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist (guitar, Irish flute, concertina), and community song leader.   With a rich and expressive voice, she sings songs rooted in the universal human longing for love, freedom, a bit of adventure, and enough courage for the journey.

In her long career she has performed in settings as diverse as concert halls and music festivals, schools and colleges, places of prayer and social justice events,  French and Celtic cultural celebrations, and living history events.

In addition to her solo performances, Denise is a dynamic leader of community singing.   She regularly sings for and with people of all ages at schools, retreats, retirement homes, conferences, and for groups of people who suffer from Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia.

At the heart of her work is using music to create joy, open new possibility in people, to build vibrant community,  to deepen spiritual connection, and work for justice and peace.  The common thread in Denise’s musical activities is her passion to share the power and magic of music as a vital source for hope, healing, and connection.

Her musical repertoire includes original  songs, contemporary folk music, Celtic and French-Canadian music, and songs from early America.
